People Behind Your Budget Success
We're not your typical finance consultants. Actually, most of us came to rolling budgets after watching too many businesses struggle with rigid annual plans that became outdated by February.
Our team formed around a simple idea – what if budgets could move with businesses instead of against them? That question turned into years of testing different approaches with Australian SMEs, refining what works and ditching what doesn't.
How We Actually Work With Budgets
Rolling budgets sound complicated, but they're just a way to keep your financial planning relevant. We've spent since 2019 figuring out how to make this practical for businesses that don't have dedicated finance teams.
- Quarterly Revision Cycles We update your budget every three months based on what actually happened. Not predictions from last year – real numbers from your business right now.
- Variance Analysis That Makes Sense Instead of just highlighting differences, we dig into why they happened and what that means for the next quarter. Turns out context matters more than spreadsheets.
- Scenario Modeling We run your numbers through different possibilities – best case, likely case, and the version where things go sideways. Helps you sleep better at night.
- Cash Flow Integration Your budget needs to talk to your cash position. We connect them so you're never caught wondering if you can afford that new hire or equipment purchase.
Two Sides of Budget Planning
Strategic Planning
This is where we look at the bigger picture. Where's your business heading over the next year or two? What investments make sense? When should you scale up or pull back?
We help you build a financial roadmap that adjusts as market conditions change. Because plans made in January shouldn't lock you into decisions that don't make sense by June.
- Long-term financial trajectory mapping
- Investment timing and resource allocation
- Growth phase planning with contingencies
- Market shift responsiveness built in
Operational Execution
Strategy is nice, but you need to run your business day-to-day. This side focuses on the practical stuff – managing monthly expenses, tracking departmental spending, making sure payroll aligns with revenue.
We create systems that give you real-time visibility without requiring a finance degree to understand. Your team can actually use these budgets instead of ignoring them.
- Monthly expense tracking and categorization
- Department-level budget management
- Real-time spending visibility dashboards
- Practical cost control mechanisms
Meet Two of Our Advisors
These are the people you'll actually work with. No sales handoff to a junior team – these advisors stay with your account.
Torsten Linforth
Senior Budget Advisor
Torsten joined us in early 2022 after spending eight years doing financial planning for manufacturing companies around Brisbane. He got frustrated watching businesses make decisions based on outdated annual budgets, so he started experimenting with rolling forecasts on his own clients.
These days he works mainly with retail and hospitality businesses in Queensland. He's particularly good at helping owners understand their seasonal cash patterns and plan around them instead of getting surprised every year.
Callum Draeger
Budget Systems Specialist
Callum came from the tech startup world where budgets basically meant nothing because everything changed every month. He figured out how to build flexible financial systems that could handle that chaos, and now he helps more traditional businesses adopt similar approaches.
He's based in Melbourne and works with professional services firms and creative agencies – businesses where project-based revenue makes traditional budgeting tricky. He's also the one who built most of our internal tools, so he knows exactly how they work.
Budgets Should Help, Not Restrict
That's the philosophy we've built everything around. Your budget should give you clarity and confidence to make decisions – not become another report you create and then ignore.
